Front Porch: Messes welcome!

Hey Girl!

When you love who you are, that means you’re committed to loving yourself at all times—the good, the bad and the ugly.

And boy, do I know a thing or two about the ugly—those moments when it seems like the world has flipped upside down and what you thought you knew, what you thought was normal, is now gone.

Girl, I feel your pain.

When I was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy last December, I felt like the bottom had dropped out of my life. I had no idea how I was going to move forward.

But God knew.

God wanted me to take my message, loving who you are, to deeper level. To learn how to love myself even if I was launching a beauty company with a face that was half frozen.

And this is what I want for you—to love who you are in, in this moment. No matter what you’ve done or what has happened to you or what your situation is, in this moment, you can love yourself.

I want this so much for you, I’m going to share a couple of exercises to help you get started.

You’ve got this. I believe in you.

Xoxo

LWYA Mic Drop: The Mess is the Message

I’m a firm believer that your mess is your message—the reason God put you here on earth at this moment in time. As I said in my book Collecting Confidence:

Suddenly I realized that everything was about me, and nothing was about me. God designed me and made me the way I was; I had no control over who I was created to be. In that moment, I let go of all my presuppositions about the way my life should look. I gave up my pride, my control, planning, strength, stress, anxiety, and fear. I gave up feeling guilty about things I’d done or ways I fell short. I realized this mess is my message.

The problem is when you’re in the middle of the mess, it’s hard to see the message. But, looking back at past messes is a lot easier.

Take a few minutes to look back over your life and see the common threads in all the “messes.” Here are a couple of questions to help you get started:

What are some struggles you’ve faced that brought you closer to God? How did they do so?

Looking back, how can you “connect some dots” about how God has worked in your life?
