Front Porch: Dress for Success

Hi Beautiful,

One of the reasons why I named my new business Love Who You Are is because I am SO passionate at helping women everywhere do exactly that.

Love Who They Are.

No matter their current circumstances. No matter what happened in their past.

I wanted them to always remember to Love Who They Are.

Which is why when my friend Davee Troublefield, a renowned makeup artist, asked me if I would help him with two special Dress for Success events, my answer was an immediate and wholehearted YES.

It was an amazing experience, and you can read more about it below.

Xoxo

Behind-the-Scenes with Kim: Renowned Makeup Artist Brings LWYA Beauty to Dress for Success Events

I’m so super excited to share this with you.

My friend Davee Troublefield, a renowned makeup artist with a huge heart, has just put on two special Dress for Success events … and he invited the Love Who You Are beauty line to participate!

During each event, Davee glammed up participants—clients of his mom’s through her trauma-counseling business—and coached them on how to look and feel their best as they apply for jobs to support their families.

After her makeover, one 74-year-old cancer survivor exclaimed she felt like a model and her confidence had returned.

“The best thing about the Dress for Success events was seeing these groups of women feel empowered and special,” Davee said. “Trauma and hard times can take their toll on our personal wellness, so gifting someone with a little pampering and self-love time really makes a change in their mentality and appearance.”

After a Q&A session during which the women shared their questions and concerns around their beauty routine and skincare regimen, Davee offered them coaching on skincare and anti-aging techniques.

He also partnered with a local consignment store to offer a selection of clothing and accessories, and with beauty brands including Love Who You Are to give them a luxury beauty experience.

“We worked with the products one-on-one to learn an easy, day-to-day makeup look that each woman could recreate on her own,” Davee explained. “I let the ladies play with colors and practice taking the daytime looks to a more glamorous nighttime look. Then I did a pro touch-up to perfect each face.”

The women were thrilled with the ease of using the Love Who You Are products, Davee said, and the group—which varied in age—“raved about the creamy texture of each product and how effortlessly it applied to their skin.”

The older ladies loved the lightweight feel of the foundation, while the younger ladies were impressed with the soft glide of the eyeliner and eyeshadow sticks.

Davee said many of them felt as though he’d shared a “secret” with them and wanted to know where they could purchase more when they ran out.

From a makeup artist’s perspective, Davee said the Love Who You Are products “were super easy to use, soft and creamy with a glowing finish.” He said, “I personally loved the eyeshadow sticks as a base for applying powder shadows. They create a stay-all-day, crease-proof base for powder shadows that has real staying power. And the eyeliners were so emollient and richly pigmented, they were perfect for blending softly for a beautiful smoky eye look. I was also excited about the bronzer sticks for applying an easy contour that blends out seamlessly and gives a soft glow.”

“Overall, LWYA is the perfect line of products for every age range and makes makeup application easy from professional to beginner.”

Perhaps more importantly, Davee said, the participants were humbled and thrilled to be part of the Dress for Success event. After her makeover, one 74-year-old cancer survivor exclaimed she felt like a model and her confidence had returned. Others spoke of feeling blessed for the opportunity to be pampered after spending so much of their attention on others over the years. They felt special that someone wanted to treat them for a change.

“I literally saw wrinkles melt away and frowns turn upside down,” Davee said. “I received a huge blessing by being surrounded by such brave and powerful women.”
